Yes, it does amplify the sound! Actually, even a bowl will do that if the shape and size is right. Isn’t that neat? Have fun crafting!

I use them for jewelry boxes. I like iphone idea guess it would work with an android phone as well; I never thought it could amplify the sound! WOW!!! Great idea as the sound quality on my phone is really bad.
