Your story was beneficial to me and hopeful to all who have served or thinking of serving.

I too, am a Veteran. I served in the US Army, 82 Aviation Brigade. I have a similar story to yours and this is why I find hearing of your struggles most uplifting.I did continue to education myself through Goodwill Industries, an idea given to me through the Women’s Resource Center (MI). I managed to gain a certificate in Accounting (1992), yet I further my education through Davenport University managing a BBA in International Business.

Rebecca, knowing that employers skim through resumes in search and need of filling employable positions, it is frustrating that the few are chosen in regards to their education more so than their qualifications. I firmly believe having served in the military, does go hand and hand with an education. Not only does it show dedication and motivation but, the knowledge to work these skills in unity.
Thank again, for your service and sharing your story.
Gena

Retired from 22 years of Army service, only to discover “I had little experience”. Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc. took a chance with me, and I haven’t looked back since. Loyalty, honesty, and professionalism are trademarks I live by, so I’ll be with them as long as they will have me.
